Secondary characters of ZAFT

Nichol Amarfi (image above) : Athrun 's teamate, 15 years, pilots blitz, son of the senator Amarfi, excellent pianist, and excellent pilot. Of a soft and faithful naturalness he will die while trying to save his captain and friend Athrun who was in bad posture against Kira. Several times he will take the party of Athrun against their other teamates.

Dearka Elthman  :

Athrun's teamate , 17 years, son of the senator Elthman, pilot of elite and of buster. Of a naturalness scoffer, merry and calm, he is the safeguard of Ysak Jule. He scorned naturals at the beginning of the series with a great proportion to the play of destruction, he will change little by little while being a prisoner of the archangel, in contact with Miri. In fact I really doubt that he is a change to 90° of his character. While learning how to know and live with them, he discovers that they are as human as him, and than coordinators and naturals undergo at the same time the same thing. Not to know the naturals resulted to engage him in a logic of contempt. I believe that he is one of the people most deeply human and sensitive of this serie with Athrun, Kira, Cagalli, Lacus and Ysak. Miri will try to kill him believing that he was him who had destroyed the mobile armor of her friend. With the battle of Orb, released, the memory which he has of Miri makes him to go up in his buster to defend the archangel at the general surprise. He will finish like Athrun by deserting ZAFT and joining to the third faction : alliance between the archangel Orb and the Clyne faction. He will be forced initially to fight against his friend and teamate Ysak Jule , then together to defend Plant, saving the life one the other. He will have the support of Miri.

He will finish wounded but alive. It is one of my favorite characters.

Ysak Jule  :

Athrun's teamate and rival, 17 years, son of the senator Ezeria Jule, pilots duel, MS which was used as a basis for the buster, strike, aegis and blitz. At the beginning of the series he seems to be the leader of the operation on Heliopolis : blood cold, calm, fast decisions : a good captain. His " true " character will reveal in the episode 11 in which Kira wounds him to the face. During a great part of the series he will re-sift this affront and will make bad decisions, losing his cold blood. As a great part of the characters interpreted by his seyu (as Van Fanel for example) Ysak is of an ebullient temperament, go-ahead type, sensitive, expressive but introverted. The change in his ideas starts with the death of Nichol, vanishing/death of his roomate and teamate Dearka and the departure of Athrun, with which they end up showing for once that they are estimated mutually, at the point to wish oneself to stay in life, which seems at the very least astonishing considering their "impassioned " relation which characterized them at the beginning of the series with many disputes. Alone and in first position for fighters, from now on, at the side of his captain, he will be shown being wary towards him, being able even to call in question some of his acts. Klueze will try to sacrifice him while ordering to him to set out again on the battle field against the archangel, although he knew that Alaska was a trap.

A series of shocks will become heavier the fact that he is alone  : the proclamation of high treason for Athrun and the obligation which he has to fight him, the return of Dearka to the side of Athrun, Kira and Lacus Clyne for which he feels an admiration without terminal. All this will make him still more to think of this war, that he has of it already enough to make.

Also for him, the fact, that his mother at the oddment directs partly the operations , does not make him to fall over in the 3rd faction. No matter what it arrives towards to his ideas he will fight for Plant, as a captain of his own squad, at the sides of his former teamates and friends. Although throughout the series, he does not succeed in beating the strike, he will destroy two of the three ultra-powerful MS of terrestrial alliance : the same ones as Athrun and Kira do not manage to demolish. He will help even Cagalli and Dearka with the danger of his own life in episodes 49 and 50. He will finish alive the series and will make party of the council of Plant to continue the process of peace (OAV).

This description is longer than the others because it is my favorite character. He is one of the only characters with Athrun and Dearka which moves in the most interesting way during the series. He makes party of the realistic characters in the behavior, i.e. full with human defects.

Patrick Zala  : Athrun's father, leader of Plant in the second part of the series, fanatic, made insane by the death of his wife, conceptor of the weapon genesis, he believes in a new humanity the " coordinators ". He will use the genesis, by twice, then will die cut down by one of his subordinates when he activates and locks the new target of the genesis, Washington, what would have made very many victims on the Earth, if Athrun would not self-destruct his justice at the final fight.

Siguel Clyne  : Lacus' father, leader of Plant during the first part, enthusiastic partisan of peace, he will try until the end to prevent envenimement of war. He will die assassinated by the order of Patrick Zala.

Kanaba  : Plant's senator, at the sides of Clyne, she will manage at the end to take back the control of Plant in the council of Plant by arresting among others Ezeria Jule and will be a member of delegations for negociations of peace.

Andrew Wardfield . : known as the « Desert Tiger  », general Arabic Peninsula. Nice and cheerful character, gentleman and good strategist, he will be deeply hurt during his last fight against Kira. Those both characters estimate eachother. Their meeting was important for Kira. He will help Lacus to elaborate her operation and be the commandant of vessel Eternal.

Dakosta  : Wardield's lieutenant, Lacus' bodyguard, he will help Athrun to flee from Plant.

Rusty Mackenzie (image above)  : 16 years , elit pilot in charge of one of the MS of the earth alliance, one sees only one shade in the series, he dies in the first episode. Only in the special episode, one discovers him slightly. He might be probably one of closest to Athrun.

Miguel  : 17 years, pilot of ginn, he dies too at the beginning of the series (3rd episode). He is the fisrt ennemi whom Kira in strike has annahilated. He took part of closets pilots of Athrun.
